Austin was 13 1/2 months when we finally had his 1 year portraits made. We took the photos on the farm June 13, 2011. The weather was nasty, but the boys didn't let it spoil their time.
Walking through a field of tall grass awakens a child's senses. Austin would look down at his feet and listen as they crunched the grass below. His hands brushed blades of dry grass. He would turn immediately, look at his hands and then touch the grass once again to feel the prickly texture. Each picture perfectly captures how attuned he was to the nature and environment surrounding him.
Showing him every grove, nook, and crevice in the old, weathered wood...he examines everything so intently, if it reading the story between the old, weathered lines. He is so smart, so calm, so happy, so peaceful. He is happy in every situation. He is easily entertained. He is identical to his dad.
A serious bond.

I adore Alex's laugh in this picture. He is truly happy when he is on the farm. He and Austin are just alike. They would rather be outside than anywhere else.
This is Alex's favorite picture out of all that were taken. He is with his two favorite boys. He couldn't be happier.
